Renting versus Owning

The choice between buying a home and renting is one of the biggest financial decisions you will be faced with as an adult.  It is a question virtually all adults ask themselves at one point or another, and especially this time of year as people consider their goals and plans for the year ahead.

There are many things to consider when making the decision to rent or buy a home, but one of the key factors often boils down to the cost.  According to the latest 2014 Rent vs. Buy Report by Trulia’s chief economist Jed Kolko, homeownership is a substantial 38% cheaper than renting.
While there are benefits to renting, overall owning a home can be a much more rewarding experience.  You have the opportunity to call something your own and have the ability to change the home to suit you and your family’s needs versus having to follow the rules and regulations of a lease.  Additionally, money put into your home is an investment that can yield financial gain in the future, versus renting which is purely an expense.

The decision to own a home is one you want to make sure you are prepared for, and the best way to do so is to work with a professional who can help you look at all of the angles and ensure you have all the information necessary to make one of the most rewarding decisions you’ll ever make in your life.  Helen Gomez is an experienced realtor and can help you and your family throughout the home buying process. Rockwall Realtor earns high praises from Home Buyers

Buying a home is a very exciting and emotional time in anyone’s life.  Home buyers are choosing a place to call home.  Finding the right home is not just about finding the place you will be laying down your head, cooking a great meal in your kitchen, or where you and the family will be spending evenings talking about the events of the day.  Finding the right home is also about the community.  It is about where your children will be educated, where you worship as a family, and who your neighbors are.

Selling your home can be exciting as you are about to experience a new chapter in your life.  You are about to embark on new and exciting adventures creating additional networks of friends.  However, it can also be a time of apprehension and anxiety as you leave the comforts for the unknown.

Home buyers and sellers alike turn to realtors to help them through this major transaction and transformation of their lives.  The Jessica Hargis Group understands these life changing events and relishes the opportunity to help make the change as smooth and easy as possible.

This year alone, Jessica Hargis has sold over 125 homes in 2014.  She lives in Rockwall, Texas and has also helped families in surrounding communities such as Forney, Terrell, Allen, Colleyville, Flower Mound, Garland, McKinney, Mesquite, Grapevine, Keller, Murphy, Rowlett, Southlake, Wylie, Heath, Plano, Richardson, and Sachse.  Her expertise and knowledge with loan options and limitations has allowed her to become one of the most trusted realtors in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area.

“It’s pretty simple really.  I listen to my family’s needs and then help guide them through the processes of buying or selling their home.  It’s what I would want for me and my family if I wasn’t knowledgeable of real-estate.  I care about the families I help and love to see their happiness.  A home is not a home because of its room dimensions or the color of the walls.  It is about how you feel when you walk through the front door, and the way you can instantly envision your life.” states, Jessica Hargis.

Boy, 13, rescued from inside chimney after getting locked out when he lost his key

By James Nye for MailOnline Published: 14:13 EST, 3 December 2014

Firefighters from three different crews spent an hour rescuing an Arizona teenager from a chimney where he got stuck after getting locked out of his home.

Firefighters from Scottsdale, Phoenix and Tempe fire departments were ultimately able to pull the 13-year-old boy to safety from inside the home on Tuesday night.

The boy had tied an extension cord to a vent to climb down the chimney, but he got stuck inside. Realizing he was trapped, he called 911 on his cellphone which he had luckily brought with him.

Anyone down there!: Firefighters rescue the 13-year-old boy who got trapped trying to climb down his own chimney after he locked himself out
Lucky: The boy is brushed down by firefighters after they let him into his home in Phoenix, Arizona on Tuesday night While the rescue was underway, firefighters worked on the rooftop and had spotlights lighting up the Scottsdale home.

They gave him a mask and goggles to protect him from dust disturbed by the removal process. 'It was about this wide, up top, where he went in,' said Captain Dave Folio of the Scottsdale Fire Department to AzFamily.

'So he just literally went down, hanging onto that rope. he got down to that area and realized he couldn't go out. He just sat there and called 911.'

Response: Multiple firefighters descended to the house to save the boy stuck down the chimney
This big: Captain Dave Folio of the Scottsdale Fire Department illustrates the size of the space the boy was trapped in
The teen was remarkably unscathed by his brush with the chimney. The boy's parents weren't home at the time, but firefighters reached a family member to look after the boy for the evening.
